Celebrating 15 years of Mozilla in Bangladesh
Mozilla, maker of Firefox, and defender of the openness, innovation, and opportunity on the web completed 15 years today. Like most other communities out there, the Mozilla Bangladesh Community celebrated the day with snacks, drinks and lots of fun! New contributors has come to the limelight, shared their thoughts and signed up to mailing lists.

I and Herock were the first ones to arrive at the venue, until we met Tanha Islam – a new potential contributor who got present there even before us! (that was quick!) We kept waiting for Ashickur Rahman until he came back with the greens, and went upstairs to the large dining hall of Star Kabab!

The event began through playing a video entitled “Coderush”, followed by a brief history of Mozilla told by me and Ashickur Rahman. While having their history lesson, the Mozillians were busy with snacks too! Oh, before the history lecture, the Mozillians introduced themselves to each other!

Having finished the history lessons and snacks, the Mozillians began to ask questions on various ways of contribution to Mozilla, which were answered by other Mozillians including me. Not so surprisingly, everyone was interested in localization and I found not a single new contributor interested in coding or development. Whatever, Mozillians signed for contribution related Emails too!

After signing up the potential new contributors, we moved to the end of our celebration and took group photos of the attendee Mozillians.
Summary
I would rate this event as “over-successful” for getting in touch with so many potential contributors. However, I really didn’t like everyone’s attention to localization. Come on dude, show me the code! I would’ve been happier if I could sign up at least one coder, but I couldn’t. Even though, I hope to see future super-geek coders from Bangladesh! Another important milestone of this event is the attendance of a female contributor (mentioned as Tanha before). I do hope to see more women engaged to contributions to Mozilla projects. Rock on Mozillians!
