Ani Adhikary

Senior Software Engineer
GovTech Singapore

I'm a software engineer who brings engineers, policy folks, and decision-makers into the same room and gets them to build something together.

I ask the uncomfortable questions. Why are we building a compatibility layer when we could update the policy? Why are we paying for this when an open standard exists? Why does this process take six weeks? Not to be difficult, but because we now have better methods, better data, and a responsibility to carry good work forward.

I co-founded several Singapore government Gen AI products: AISAY, LLM Stack, Sense, IntelliFile, Summy, and Scribe (MDDI).

I speak at regional PyCons and developer conferences, and run workshops at GovTech on Agentic Engineering. Before all this, I was a volunteer DevRel for Mozilla during the Firefox OS era.

things I believe in

  • The best government tech is built by people who question why it's done this way
  • Policy is not a stone wall. It's a guardrail, and guardrails need to move with the times
  • Adopt open standards. Don't build compatibility layers for outdated ones
  • Engineers should ship to production, not to committees
  • AI in government should protect citizens, not just optimise processes
